Current lice treatments are failures.

The majority of lice in the US are treatment-resistant “super lice” - which means that many popular lice treatments on the shelf no longer work. Other options for treating head lice involve messy creams, multiple applications, hours of tedious combing, or powerful prescriptions.

The result? Lice are the cause of ~24 Million missed days of school and work each year in the US, leaving parents and kids frustrated.

We think we can do better.

FreezeNit aims to use only cold, carbon dioxide (CO2) gas to kill head lice and their eggs (nits) in one short treatment - we use the same gas that bubbles your soda. The result is a faster, safer treatment that does not expose children or the planet to toxic compounds. The magic of a no-comb, single treatment also means that you can get your family right back to school and work with little-to-no downtime.

How does it work?

Our approach works in three different ways. First, carbon dioxide (CO2) at high levels is toxic to insects, regardless of temperature, while being safe for people’s skin. Second, CO2 acts an asphyxiant, suffocating the live lice. Lastly, we use short bursts of cold temperatures to freeze the lice and their eggs.

Do you have proof that this works?

We’re working on it. We have conducted laboratory tests on head lice, but not on actual people yet. Drop us your email here to be the first to know about our clinical results.
